Victor Xray - Fifty More Still

Dumbness and despair - desertion
The desertion of your friends from you
You from your friends
Everyone from everyone
Isolation and loneliness
Hating and suspecting each other
D is finally death
Slow death
Hey ... Well, that's it

University is off for the year, here's a new track for my first free weekend in 3 months: Fifty More Still - minimalist, bassy, spiky, desolate.

Download Victor Xray Fifty More Still (14.1MB 320kbps mp3).

TO DOWNLOAD: As usual, click the "attachment" link(s) in this entry if you are viewing the HTML web page - or use a podcasting client RSS feed of the blog to get automated downloads of any new music placed on Xray Dubs. If you can't see a download link anywhere go to the original page url - usually linked from the title.

What seems to be the problem?
Death.
Death? Well I'm afraid that's a little out of my jurisdiction.
I want more life, fucker.

Victor Xray - Into the Wastes of Time

This track is a more minimal-sounding apc-40 jam than the one I uploaded earlier today (Fucker). It has a nice space about it, I think. Will make a good live track.

Victor Xray - Fucker

What seems to be the problem?
Death.
Death? Well I'm afraid that's a little out of my jurisdiction.
I want more life, fucker.

Well that's the sample that drives the heart of this track. I've been a little quiet of late, my mid-semester break has not been as productive as I would have liked - I've got lots of bits and pieces of half-completed tracks but nothing fully developed yet. In the meantime I went to L.A. where I got the incredible Akai APC-40 Ableton controller for a fantastic price at Guitar Centre in Hollywood (much cheaper than possible in Australia). Anyway with this bit of kit I've been jamming away at those little segments and this track is the first result, with a great simple driving synth line. I've had a bunch of the Bladerunner samples lying around and wanting to do something with them for a little while. I figured the less, the better, and the result is "Fucker". The string synth figure is also based on the Vangelis soundtrack.

There's another track - a bit more of an APC-40 jam session than this one - I might also upload later tonight

Download Victor Xray Fucker (10.7MB 320kbps mp3).

Victor Xray - Get It Now (Bad Boy) Riddum

This one is called 'Get It Now (Bad Boy)'. I've had the basic drum/bass riddum sitting in Live for a few months, got around to finishin off the arrangement this weekend. Lisa says it sounds like some guy trying to herd some alien bugs and rustle 'em up on board some sort of ark ... maybe that means it has some sort of old testament cowboy dubstep feel?! I'm not gonna say where the vocal sample comes from. RIAA come get me if you can work it out. Say It! Come on girl, come on! Get it now, get it!

Download Victor Xray Get it Now (Bad Boy) (11.1MB 320kbps mp3).
