No new music for the time being (university occupies the next few weeks) but I did go up Mount Cootha last week and filmed this:

Victor Xray - Skates On (new mix)

New mix of last Sunday's track with molto improvo

A new mix of last Sunday's track Skates On. This mix is tighter, with more variation, drops, etc. The new mix replaces the old mix so if you haven't got the old mix, you're out of luck - but this mix is much better anyway.

The next few weeks I will be concentrating on university research so will be a bit light on in the music department.

Victor Xray - Skates On (mp3)

Another Quality Victor Xray 320kbps mp3 download

So here I was working from a track I started yesterday. And it almost totally sucked ... I was going to waste my weekend.

Then, at about 4pm, I ditched that track to start another track, may as well salvage something ... and with about 15 minutes I'd written the majority of the parts you can hear in this track, which I think totally rocks with a nice solid groove. Then I spent the next couple of hours getting the arrangement sorted that you hear here. Get Your Skates On!!!

It's about a minute too long, I think. It's a nice muscular dubstep number with electro overtones. It's really quite nice, if I don't say so myself. Skates On!

Victor Xray - Poseidon's Lair (mp3) - new version

New version of the track from yesterday

New version of Poseidon's Lair. Shorter, punchier. Yesterday I said;

A rough mix of a track I called Poseidon's Lair. I quite like this one, wasn't quite loving it yesterday but after some distance between that and today it started to come up nice n easy. It's got a good rolling rhythm - I started out trying to make a dubstep track with a little push in the percussion and this is the result. A little bit of polishing necessary but I think even in this state the mix is coming up quite nice. Enjoy

Victor Xray - Death Groove 9000 (mp3)

The evolution of a track

This week's track (Death Groove 9000) is an evolution of The Dolphin Machine which was in itself an evolution of Death Groove 6000. I've reverted to the original name format -- only the name indicates the improved version. I've removed the earlier versions if you haven't already got them.

Jupiter's Sinews

As this blog has turned out to be focussed almost exclusively on my musical output, I am now running a generalised "Tumblelog" ( powered by Tumblr ) over at Jupiter's Sinews ... it's got a fairly steady stream of news, links, quotes and the like.
