Clan Analogue back catalogue : the Festival Years

Everyone's releasing back catalogue it seems. My friends at Transmission Communications are also working on their 1990s back catalogue too. In the email this afternoon from this little missive from Clan Analogue: included in this is my first solo album-length release G-Type Nerve Agent (CA023), and a lot of these other albums have withstood the test of time, Pear Shaped in particular but I still listen to Disco Stu and the first Deepchild album too, as well as various tracks off all the others. A fine collection of music is represented here!
Clan Analogue: The Festival Years

Clan Analogue are pleased to announce that a selection of its classic releases from the years 1998 to 2001 are now available in digital format from iTunes and other digital retailers.  These albums are from an era when Clan Analogue snuck in through the back door of the corporate music industry, signing a lucrative distribution deal with Festival Records and releasing a series of albums still hailed as classic milestones in modern Australian electronic music.

Clan Analogue will shortly be releasing Re Cognition: The Clan Analogue Legacy Collection, a selection of the greatest tracks from the history of Clan Analogue, on a triple disc set, including a bonus CD of new remixes and DVD containing all the filmclips and the Plug In & Switch On documentary.

Now available in digital non-physical format are:

Jaunt 2: A Sojourn in Bass – various artists (catalogue number CA017)
A throbbing journey through drum’n’bass, dub, trip hop and downbeat grooves, with tracks by many Australian electro-funk luminaries.

Telemetry Orchestra - Live Better Electrically (catalogue number CA019)
Debut album from indie-dance crossover act Telemetry Orchestra, combining funk grooves with deep analogue synthesis in a new form of spaced-out electro-lounge.

Cognition Two: 20 Disco Greats – various artists (catalogue number CA020)
20 Disco Greats took Australian electronica deep into the Disco ghetto of funky beats and smooth basslines.  Nominated for a Dance Music Award!

Disco Stu – Adult Themes (catalogue number CA022)
Prior to Englishman in Ibiza fame, Disco Stu released Adult Themes, a minimalist conglomerate of mangled disco samples, sparse electronics and driving basslines.

Nerve Agent – G-Type Nerve Agent (catalogue number CA023)
Staking out an area between fucked-up dub and funked-up techno with a dash of house thrown in, the debut release from the artist who later became Victor X-Ray.

5000 Fingers of Dr T – Buttsqueezer (catalogue number CA024)
5000 Fingers of Dr T present a collection of funky tracks, tasty tunes, buzzy squelches and groovy electro beats.

Cognition Three – various artists (catalogue number CA025)
A deviant beat-based sound journey and an extraordinary excursion into electronica audio bliss of the purest form, from tech-house to deep bass.

Deepchild – Hymns From Babylon (catalogue number CA026)
The debut album release from the internationally renowned Deepchild, an eclectic album of experimental breaks, analogue blips and dirty bass-laden grooves.

Pear Shaped – Pear Shaped (catalogue number CA027)
The side project from Atone’s Andy Fitzgerald, fusing smooth dub, drum’n’bass and hip hop, with collaborators such as Jodi Phillis and Serena Gartner.

Victor Xray - Fucker [new drum mix]

320 kbps MP3

What seems to be the problem?
Death.
Death? Well I'm afraid that's a little out of my jurisdiction.
I want more life, fucker.

New version of 'Fucker' - the track from last week - with bigger, nastier drums and some other mix tweaks. Old one removed.

Download Victor Xray Fucker (10.7MB 320kbps mp3).

Victor Xray - Into the Wastes of Time

320 kbps MP3

This track is a more minimal-sounding apc-40 jam than the one I uploaded earlier today (Fucker). It has a nice space about it, I think. Will make a good live track.

Well that's the sample that drives the heart of this track. I've been a little quiet of late, my mid-semester break has not been as productive as I would have liked - I've got lots of bits and pieces of half-completed tracks but nothing fully developed yet. In the meantime I went to L.A. where I got the incredible Akai APC-40 Ableton controller for a fantastic price at Guitar Centre in Hollywood (much cheaper than possible in Australia). Anyway with this bit of kit I've been jamming away at those little segments and this track is the first result, with a great simple driving synth line. I've had a bunch of the Bladerunner samples lying around and wanting to do something with them for a little while. I figured the less, the better, and the result is "Fucker". The string synth figure is also based on the Vangelis soundtrack.

There's another track - a bit more of an APC-40 jam session than this one - I might also upload later tonight
