The albums you should have listened to before you die
Via magpiebrain, comes another list meme. This time it's albums that you should listen to in their entireity before you die. The basic meme is, take this list, copy it to your blog, highlight the ones that you already listened to, and then add three (only three, no cheating down the back).
The problem with these lists are varied and many. The list below, written by previous contributors, includes 'Greatest Hits' type albums and personally I don't think these are eligible as they were never intended as complete works the way a 'proper' album is. Another problem is that there are albums that I will never hear from start to finish, after hearing some of it (e.g. Pink Floyd's The Wall, as I'm in complete agreement with Tim Bray (and famously, John Lydon) on that score). Although I've seen the movie, so I guess that means I have heard the album? Kill me now.
Also some album choices are a bit weird, for some artists. Just one Beatles album? And why not David Bowie's "Low" and "Lodger"? Some of the artists are just pure puke (Dire Straights, Joan Armatrading).
Anyway the list;
- Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
